Convergent Thinking: Convergent thinking is the type of thinking that focuses on coming up with a single, well-established answer to a problem. In this kind of thinking the answer is derived from a reliable source. Some tests like MCQs, Quizzes, Spelling Tests, and tests demanding objective answers require this thinking.

Divergent Thinking: It is the type of thinking that explores multiple possible solutions to a problem. It is the opposite of convergent thinking.

Critical Thinking: Critical thinking is a thought process or method that involves analysis of available facts, evidence, observations, and arguments to form a judgment or find solution to a problem.

Creative Thinking: The ability to generate new and innovative ideas about an issue, topic, or the solution to a problem.

Critical thinking

a. Have you made your own precept after you read this lesson? What is it? Share it with your friends.

Ans:  Yes, I have made my own precept after reading this lesson. It is, “Be kind to unkind people because they need it most”. The unkind people have a troubled mind and a painful heart because they never receive love and compassion due to their behaviors. They are the ones who face a lot of troubles in their lives, so they live miserably. They do not have any part of happiness ever in their existence. When they start receiving kindness, it can change them in a positive way. Therefore, I believe we should be kind to unkind people.

b. According to Josh Lanyon, “If there was one life skill everyone on the planet needed, it was the ability to think with critical objectivity.” Justify this statement with your logic.

Ans: This statement from Josh Lanyon is valid and reasonable to me. Actually, the ability to think with critical objectivity is a part of critical thinking. Ideally, critical thinking is to be done objectively—meaning without influence from personal feelings, opinions or biases—and it focuses only on factual information. Critical thinking is a skill that allows us to make logical and informed decisions to the best of your ability. Human beings are different from the rest of the living beings because of this skill. We have progressed in science and technology, social, political, and economical aspects only because of the ability to think with critical objectivity. Therefore, like Josh Lanyon, I too believe, “If there was one life skill everyone on the planet needed, it was the ability to think with critical objectivity”.

Sub: About an Interesting Class I had

Dear Mahesh,

Thank you for writing about your new teacher. I felt so glad to know that you are enjoying your new school. Today, I am writing to you to tell about an interesting class I recently had. It was my English class, where my teacher, Kabindra Subedi, motivated us by apprising about two kinds of mindsets people can have. Mr. Subedi said that there exist two kinds of people- proactive and reactive. The people who are self-operated, self-motivated, and responsible for the assigned duties are the proactive ones. The outer environment does not affect their mood and work because they are the real leaders. They have owner mindset. On the other hand, reactive people guided by others. They have servant mindset. They cannot be self-operated, self-motivated, and also cannot fulfill their responsibilities. This notion of Mr. Subedi inspired us to remain proactive for always. Isn't it interesting to you?

It was all about I wanted to share with you. Hope you will write about your interesting class. Thanks for everything.

Regards,

Rajesh Hamal
